For the same work, I will literally get paid pennies compared to US

Is the mx master 3s worth getting?

No.100096041 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Is the mx master 3s worth getting? For the most part I don't really do heavy gaming, but i do sometimes play some competitive games and the mouse piqued my interest when I tried a display one recently, i liked the ergonomic feel of it however I looked it up and there are people saying its a crappy mouse due to a low polling rate and a bad sensor so I'm not sure anymore, especially since it is quite dear in my country.
Is it worth getting? or should I go for something like the g502 or g305 which are cheaper and have the hero sensor.

https://wiki.installgentoo.com/wiki/Home_server/Case_guide

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

man destroyed a HDD in 8 seconds

No.100097398 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
..when FEDs knocked on the door

https://muropaketti.com/tietotekniikka/tietotekniikkauutiset/teekoaly-kuluttaa-kohta-enemman-energiaa-kuin-intia/

Garnier Fructis Disk Mantler is a new device that destroys HDD in 8 seconds and you too can buy it.

It is about the size of a microwave (which is fitting because some people have been putting HDDs into microwave in the past) and in the middle section of a device there is a hole where 3.5" HDD fits.

You put the HDD into the hole, close the lid of the device and push a startup button.

It will cause physical stress on the HDD like you wouldnt believe. Physical hits, harmonic vibrations, shaking, smashing the HDD against the devices SECC steel wall at fast speed (altough the distance moved aint so big, 30 centimeters, the speed and force is considerable)

It is probably a nice addition to microwave arsenal. And you could use both to be sure your data is lost.

They did not mention availability and pricing just yet but it will be "soon" when it can be bought and shipped to many countries.
