Freedom as in Porn-Free

No.100051718 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Many websites are banning porn to please advertisers and for the safety of children. Reddit and Twitter allow it and they were created decades ago but lately it feels like they are going to ban it one of these days. New websites just don't allow NSFW posts at all. Porn sites like Pornhub are getting attacked by new anti-porn laws every day. Are you downloading your porn? Because I think you should hoard it. Make backups. In 20 years all porn sites could be gone from the internet. The age of free internet porn will be over. Even 4chan will be permanently dyed blue. How are you preparing for it?

/lht/ - legacy hardware thread.

No.100071464 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
A general dedicated to legacy support of dated hardware. Feel free to post suggestions and resources. Mainly for x86 machines but other ISAs are also welcome.
Questions about obsolete Windows versions belong to >>>/lwt/
The major problem with older CPUs is the lack of certain instructions. Many programs nowadays require you to have certain instructions to work correctly. For example, chromium nowadays requires you to have a CPU with at least SSE3 while Firefox only requires SSE2. Check you CPU here.
https://www.cpu-world.com
If your CPU is at least Pentium 4 or newer, you can safely give one of those distros a try:
https://peppermintos.com/
https://www.crunchbangplusplus.org/
https://antixlinux.com/
If not, consider using tinycore or DSL:
http://tinycorelinux.net/
https://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
tinycore handbook:
http://tinycorelinux.net/corebook.pdf
For machines with Pentium 3 or older, you can use dillo to browse the web. Needless to say that a lot of modern websites will not work because of JS/Cloudflare
https://dillo.org/
List of older versions of common software that can be run without SSE2. If the software can work offline and you do not need extra features, you can safely give older versions a try. I highly discourage from running ancient browser versions though. This was made with XP in mind but it should be applicable to linux as well.
