When someone is credited as a 'songwriter' on a piece of music what does that actually mean? I always it was synonymous with 'composer' but that doesn't seem to be the case. It doesn't seem like it even necessarily means they wrote the lyrics. It's even more confusing when a lot of so-called 'producers' seem to be the one's actually writing the music/lyrics.
