Brazilian anon here, you don't want to learn shit about costume structure with anyone here.
I've been sewing/making armor for years, and I was invited by my apartment painter to go meet a samba school and see how they made the costumes after he saw me working on a project.

It felt like I was talking to 8 year olds. It is all made with unconfortable wire and weights like hell. It is also poorly glued, just so they can rip it all off after the ONE day they wear it and use it again in the next costumes.

Duct tape costumes has better construction than anything you could learn here.

According to Wiki, kimonos were inspired by Hanfu attire of China in the 5th century. There's also the extreme folk dress of Ainu people which are the indigenous people of Hokkaido and a little lower in Northern Japan.

The Ainu dress looks like a mixture of Chinese and possibly Russian influence.

According to Liza Dalby they wore poncho-like clothing in vegetal fabric (maybe tree bark) and they sported tattoos as Ainu do (well did) Try the Tokyo museum of fashion for references ? The only sources we have are Chinese chronicles though, since Japan didn't have a writing system yet and fabric don't last well in Japan's hyper acidic ground.

You should see the hat/wigs upper-class and nobles wore from XVIIth to XIXth century.
During the Rococo period, some women even had naturalized parrots in their wigs.
People always go on about Pompadour style, but insane hairstyles have always helped to set a strict difference between peasants and nobility. Old paintings are a testimony.
