if you could change the History of computers

No.100283373 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
As you pass by the street on garbage night something draws your attention: a pile of weird electronics, looking at same time old and futuristic. As you pick up a dusty strange looking device to look closely, a genie comes out and offers you to change the History of computers by killing a platform/OS/company and having a defunct one survive instead.

There were many interesting stuff that failed to survive: Amiga, ST, MSX, SGI, PC98, Amstrad, BeBox and so on. And there are those who survived and did not deserve to.
Which one do you save?
And which one do you kill instead?

Personally I'd kill Apple in the mid 90s and let Amiga survive instead. Hey, maybe now we'd have AmigaPhones and AmigaPads, and our CPUs would descend from the Motorola 68000 instead of the Intel 8086.

Make your wish. Let's fantasies a little. Will you just kill Microsoft in 1990 so Linux becomes the standard OS for PC or do you have more interesting ideas?
