I hope you adopted at least part of MEGA's encryption model, OP.

They encrypt their files and give you the keys to share with others which are based on your private key, so they're completely out of the loop.

No, but we do have a much stricter rate limit on TOR users, and we add a bunch of stuff to try and convince people to help report malicious content. We'll see how it goes. It's not like you wouldn't be any less anonymous if you uploaded through an exit node.

Yes, I can look through everything if I want. That being said, there are 150,000+ files on these servers. I don't give a shit about yours.

The whole point of being open source is that if you are that paranoid, you can run your own version. It takes about 10 minutes to set up an Arch machine with a copy of MediaCrush.

Only supports images/audio/video, and they get validated and stripped of junk (so no stuffing rars into jpegs). That being said, if you figure out some way to encrypt a file into those formats (I can think of several ways offhand), I won't care.

If you abuse that to upload illegal content and I find out about it, though, I will remove the files.

Would I need to input a frame rate for each or does ffmpeg takes care of that? If I have to do that then I might aswell just upload evrything though might take a while with the daily limits and my upload speed.

Just use that. Make sure you compiled ffmpeg with libvpx and libvorbis. You can probably figure something out without vorbis if you're clever.

You said the website had a 50mb upload limit so I tried to upload a 181mb MP4 and its stuck in a preparation phase.

You should at least add a warning that something is above the file limit.

I really want to watch some 60fps video on this site.

The "preparation" phase is where it gets the MD5 hash of your file. In Javascript. So it takes a while.

I really want this site to succeed so I have two pieces of advice.

If you know anything about Reddit you'll know to be extremely centered in the mobile area.

I dont know how possible this will be but you should shorten the links somewhat. www.imgur.com alone is shorter than www.mediacru.sh and it seems the random case sensitive numbers and letters afterwards is longer aswell.
I have personally had to share large amounts of pictures to different devices and imgur was the way to go.

I don't know, maybe including a way to upload/fetch a video, split it, crop it and then create an html5 version of it. So far people rather make a gif and then upload to gfycat/mc to get the html5 version than dealing with ffmpeg or whatever. They go with what they are used to, i think. Not sure what you're asking. The file was WebM the whole time, it was just repeatedly uploaded to and downloaded from gfycat. Each time you upload a file there, the site recompresses it, reducing the quality a little more.

Not quite. There's one open-source program of that sort that can save to uncompressed AVI, though, which you can easily compress yourself. Also does MP4. It could probably be modified to use WebM. I'd have to look up the name.

If you don't care about selecting a particular region of your screen, you can do it with VLC. If you're on Linux, there's also byzanz-record.

Using Spittie's fork here. Based on this thread it looks like the mediacru.sh embedding needs to be updated to deal with sound properly. Pure sound files don't work right, and there's no convenient volume control (you can turn on native controls with right click of course).

Did a test. While it does re-encode the video, the quality is much better than gfycat. The real issue is with the sound.

Not OP, but .swf files are interactive programs, not videos. People on /f/ use it mostly for ultra-crappy embedded videos with no interactivity, and for most of those you can easily rip out the media content. But I wouldn't expect easy conversion of arbitrary Flash files.

That's not the case with SPDY. Look at the waterfall measurements, even Chromium page suggests not using CDN as a best practice because it's a hack that was required with HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/1.0. HTTP/2.0 and QUIC do not need CDNs.
The reason is that with SPDY, you'll make many more (or at least one more) new HTTPS connection (three handshakes or so, ~500ms) which takes notably longer than serving content from the same domain.

But that would be even more incorrect. HTTPS isn't secure by default, it doesn't do anything without SSL/TLS. It's a transport layer, not an encryption/authentication layer.

Also, the API is really easy to use. You could set up a cronjob that deletes the file after a while with curl.

I helped Spittie add obfuscated botnet code to recent versions of 4chan X and advised him to pull it from userscripts.org lest he gets discovered and reported. The botnet is appended to the code at compile-time; it's built into our fork of the Coffeescript compiler. It's very basic right now but eventually we're gonna make it into a powerful, decentralized p2p network that DDoSes sites specified by our future clients. The C&C is a hidden Github repo; orders are routed via the updates mechanism (just setting a few variables). Since the last few revisions we've gotten a couple prospective clients (we advertise on IRC and on blackhat SEO forums) and we're going to start actually making money for the next few days. Spittie will deny this to the best of his ability, for obvious reasons - or maybe try to make it look like he's trolling all of you - but I seriously encourage you to stop updating 4chan X if you ever notice your connection getting slow/have bandwidth restrictions. See, the botnet is opt-out that way.

Why do you think that 4chan X is written using Coffeescript instead of Javascript? Mayhem, Spittie and Zixaphir will tell you because it's easier to write, but in fact they've put a backdoor in the compiler, so that you won't see the botnet code in the source.
The compiled Javascript code is compressed, uglified and encrypted, so it would take months, if not years, to find the botnet here.

I do spend a lot of time tweaking the quality. I have no choice but to reencode, if I want to support mobile devices and shit, but I work pretty hard to make sure the output is indistinguishable from the input.

Also, only videos have this problem, images and audio are processed losslessly.

Your video player on Loonix should play it out of the box, and Winblows players will play it if you have LAV Filters or ffdshow installed (which you should).
FFmpeg and Libav have support as they do for most video formats -- including VP9 encoding
Pretty much any video editor on Loonix
Most "professional" Winblows video editors won't open hardly any files anyway, you need a converter no matter what.
VirtualDub can open almost anything with the ffmpeg input plugin, and can be configured to use ffmpeg as an external encoder.

There's plenty of support
