No pretense. I genuinely enjoy the music. I learned a couple of the tracks, read the band member's books. I'm a musician myself, and it feels like there are zero Beefheart fans in the wild.

why do people spend big money to see dinosaur rock/metal bands live when their members are all geriatrics (i.e. any prolific thrash or hair band from the 80s) and have no fucking energy onstage?

I want to play drums so badly, but I cant set up an acoustic set where I live because of the noise, and I wont be able to afford an electric kit in probably more than a year.
Can I make significant progress with just a practice pad in the meantime? I probably could get a pedal and set it up against a wooden table or something, and maybe a hi-hat that I can mute with a shirt or something so its not so loud.
Is this enough to make some good progress while I get my hands on a kit?
