That sweater I left at a girl's house in Omaha, Nebraska...
WARNING; STORY TIME: We played a show in Omaha, Nebraska on tour with Wild Nothing in what appeared to be a high school cafeteria that they built a stage in so it was more like an auditorium. A bunch of cute girls were there and one of those girls took us to a party that was going on at her house. Conor Oberst used to live there and so they gave us a tour of the place, like anyone but me in the band gives a shit about Bright Eyes anyway. I made out with this girl on the porch and she turned out to be a tranny so we all just bailed immediately and I left my sweater behind. Said girl who's house it was (not the tranny) still has it and is waiting for me to come back and get it, though I asked her to mail it to me more than once. It will be mine once again someday.
Here's where things get real funny: When I first entered the apartment, we walked into the living room and a bunch of stoners were playing Super Smash Brothers on the N64. I got passed the controller and schooled everyone in the room a few times before leaving to see the rest of the place. Fast forward a few years later, and I'm at some bar in my hood that has an N64 night on Sundays. Some dude walks up to me one night when i'm there and goes "Hey man, you might not remember this but you came through to a party in Omaha once and beat my ass in Smash. I've been training every day since then in hopes I would meet you again and beat you. Wanna play right now?" I said sure.
What happened next? I literally 3 stocked him. Not sure if he touched me even once. I felt really bad because I hadn't played in a while and I could tell he was upset about having another go at it but this continued a few times before he walked away and wished me well. I imagine this guy is still in Nebraska, at Conor Oberst's old place, just playing Smash all time, training to beat me and that makes me feel some sort of way.
